UNDERTAKING TO IMPROVE RICE PRODUCTION IN TITI SERONG, PERAK

TITI SERONG, May 30 - Faculty of Agriculture, UPM in collaboration with IADA Kerian and the Department of Agriculture, held a Putra Outreach Clinic within the scope of providing management advisory services on paddy field at Integrated Agricultural Development Area, Titi Serong, Perak. The program runs for one day with the theme of Healthy Rice Yield Rises.


IADA Kerian one of the most important rice bowl of Malaysia covering an area of ​​28,488 hectares of ​​paddy cultivation from, 30,560 hectares of agricultural land. The main problem faced by the farmers in the area is rice blast.


The main purpose of this program is to provide training and guidance on sustainable technology and entrepreneurship interaction between experts within farmers, entrepreneurs and officials rice development to improve efficiency, productivity and income.


A total of 350 participants from 265 rice farmers and entrepreneurs as well as 85 official IADA participated in this program. While the Faculty of Agriculture has sent a total of 11 experts in various fields, and four supporting staff.


A total of four topics which are Paddy Rice Crop Disease and Control Methods, Rice Crop Pest Control Methods, Padi Angin and Weed Control , Precision Agriculture and Soil And Water Management in paddy plantation has discussed simultaneously where participants were divided into several groups and will follow all title given at pre-arranged.


Agricultural Clinic also held which includes field crops, agricultural technology, soil fertility, crop pests and diseases as well as aquaculture. Poster and rice related products are also exhibited by the Faculty of Agriculture, UPM and Kerian IADA.
Mr. Zahimi Hasan, Director of IADA Kerian, Perak and Assoc. Prof Dr. Che Fauziah Ishak, Deputy Dean (Academic ,Student Affairs and Alumni) Faculty of Agriculture, also participated in the program.


Field follow-up program will be made from time to time by experts from the Faculty of Agriculture jointly Kerian IADA officer to ensure that all the technology implemented by farmers .
