PUTRA SYNERGY PROGRAM 2026 ATTRACTS 100 VISITORS, UPM VICE CHANCELLOR REVIEWS INNOVATIONS AND FARM FACILITIES AT THE FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE

SERDANG, 5 June 2026 – The Putra Synergy Program 2026, organised by the Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully attracted approximately 100 visitors comprising university members, local communities, and external agencies who participated in various agriculture-, innovation-, and education-based activities held at Farm 15, Faculty of Agriculture UPM.

The programme was further enlivened by the presence of the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Dato’ Professor Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, who took the opportunity to visit and observe the entire programme site. Also present were Prof. Ir. Dr. Abd. Rahim Abu Talib, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International), as well as representatives from the Vice Chancellor’s Office and the Bursar’s Office of UPM.

During the visit, the university delegation was taken on an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) tour to explore the five main checkpoints featured throughout the programme. The visit provided the university’s top management with the opportunity to gain a closer understanding of the various projects, facilities, and innovations developed by the Faculty of Agriculture in strengthening the agenda of Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture.

One of the key highlights was the Plant Factory, which showcased controlled-environment crop production technology and featured a knowledge-sharing session on lettuce cultivation. Visitors were also brought to the Organic Unit to observe seedling propagation demonstrations and biopesticide production, while gaining exposure to environmentally friendly organic farming practices.

The tour continued to the Goat Farming Unit, which demonstrated the systematic management of ruminant livestock at the Faculty of Agriculture UPM. Visitors were briefed on various aspects of goat farming, including nutrition, health management, breeding, and daily farm operations. Participants also had the opportunity to closely observe the livestock facilities and gain a better understanding of the role of the livestock industry in supporting food security and the development of the national agri-food sector.

In addition, the PutraBest checkpoint served as a platform for promoting and selling farm produce, including organic vegetables, stingless bee honey, livestock products, and a variety of agro-food products produced by the Faculty of Agriculture. Meanwhile, the Sensory Garden offered a unique recreational and educational experience through ATV rides, e-bike activities, lamp car rides, interactive children’s games, and pineapple product sales.

The Putra Synergy Program 2026 not only served as a medium for sharing agricultural knowledge and technology with the public but also functioned as a strategic platform for strengthening connections between the university, community, and industry. The programme is aligned with UPM’s aspiration to empower knowledge transfer, innovation, and community development through a lifelong learning approach.

The organisation of this programme is expected to enhance public awareness of the importance of modern agriculture while introducing the various facilities, expertise, and products offered by the Faculty of Agriculture UPM to the wider community.
