UPM Expands Access to Clean Water for 31 Orang Asli Households in Tasik Chini

A total of 31 Orang Asli households in Kampung Melai, Tasik Chini, have received water filtration systems through the Water4Malaysia 1.0 programme, an initiative by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) that integrates knowledge transfer, research and regular monitoring to improve the community’s access to clean water.

Implemented in collaboration with the UPM Student Representative Council (MPP), the programme also includes a one-year monitoring period to assess water quality, the effectiveness of the filtration systems, as well as their impact on the health and well-being of the community.

The Project Leader of the Study on the Effectiveness of the Clean Water Access Initiative (PKIAB) 2026–2027 and Advisor to Water4Malaysia 1.0, Associate Professor Dr. Nor Rohaizah Jamil, said that the initiative was designed as a long-term effort to strengthen water security among the Orang Asli community in Kampung Melai.
