Background

Department of Crop Science focuses on studies relating to crop science for increased productivity. The department is committed in achieving this by providing quality education in a broad spectrum of disciplines, namely plant structure and taxonomy, genetics and plant breeding, plant physiology, cropping systems, post harvest, agricultural biochemistry and seed science and technology. The department consists of highly qualified staff members with expertise in various disciplines. In combination with well-equipped laboratories and a wide range of sophisticated instruments, the department offers courses and conduct research related to crop science. The objective of the department is to generate and disseminate knowledge in various fields of crop science for the development of tropical agriculture
