LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT COURSE ENHANCES INDUSTRY PARTICIPANTS’ SKILLS THROUGH THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL APPROACHES

SERDANG, 14 May 2026 – The Farm Office, Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully organized a two-day Landscape Management Course from 13 to 14 May 2026 at the Faculty of Agriculture Farm, UPM. The programme was attended by 20 participants from TRIplc Medical Sdn. Bhd. who were keen to enhance their knowledge and skills in professional landscape management.

The course was designed to provide participants with comprehensive exposure to the concepts, techniques, and best practices of sustainable and effective landscape management. Throughout the programme, participants were introduced to various aspects of landscape management, including landscape planning, ornamental plant selection, landscape maintenance management, pest and disease control, as well as safety practices in carrying out landscape-related tasks.

A team of experienced speakers was invited to share their expertise, including Dr. Sarah Baharuddin and Associate Professor Dr. Syari Jamian, lecturers from the Faculty of Agriculture, UPM; Mr. Ellan Lajot, Agricultural Officer at the Faculty of Agriculture Farm Office; and Ms. Wan Suhana Wan Talib, Agricultural Officer at the Putra Agriculture Centre.

Through interactive theoretical sessions and practical field-based training, participants had the opportunity to learn techniques for identifying landscape-related issues, plant care methods, the proper use of landscape equipment, and systematic management practices to ensure landscapes are maintained in optimal condition.

In addition, participants were exposed to hands-on activities involving landscape site preparation, pruning techniques, fertilization, weed control, and ornamental plant maintenance. This experiential learning approach enabled participants to directly apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the course in real-world settings.

The course successfully achieved its objective of strengthening participants’ competencies in landscape management while enhancing their understanding of more efficient and sustainable landscape management practices. Programmes of this nature also serve as an important platform for strengthening strategic collaboration between Universiti Putra Malaysia and industry partners through the sharing of knowledge and expertise that benefits both parties.

It is hoped that the knowledge and skills gained throughout this course will be applied by participants within their respective organizations, thereby contributing to the development of greener, more organized, and higher-quality environments.
